Baku to host 2nd International Mugam Festival

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Azerbaijani Union of Composers will jointly organize the second International Mugam Festival here on March 14-21, 2011.

An opening ceremony of the festival will take place on March 14 at the International Mugam Center.

Chairperson of Azerbaijani Union of Composers, People`s artist, professor Firangiz Alizade said several countries had already applied for participation in the festival.

Alizade said a concert, UNESCO symposium and scientific conference are expected to be held as a part of the eight-day festival.

The First International Mugam Festival was held in Baku on March 18-25, 2009.
