Azerbaijan will introduce a new standard on taxi color gradually - with the arrival of new cars and the decommissioning of the existing ones, head of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov said today.

Hasanov said that this process will end in two years at most. Azerbaijan started introducing new standards on color of cars, providing taxi services from Dec. 20.

Particularly, purple cars will be used in Baku, white in Ganja and blue in Sumgait.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents adopted the standard developed by the Ministry of Transport AZS 425-2010 "Buildings and cars of passenger stations".

The standards apply to the construction of passenger stations, bus stops, taxi stops, trucks. They also establish the basic requirements for registration signs and other information data, the report said.

The items of standard are compulsory for private entrepreneurs and legal entities engaged in transporting passengers and cargo on the basis of licenses issued by the relevant authorities.

The normative document indicates the requirements for registration of passenger stations, stops of regular passenger vehicles, the external design of vehicles (taxis and passenger vehicles), as well as the interior design of passenger vehicles and passenger cabs.
