24 December 2010 [13:15] - TODAY.AZ
A new collection of works of the Turkmen classical poet Magtymguly Fraghi in the Azerbaijani language has been published, as a sign of friendly relations between the two countries, the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

Magtymguly's works have been translated in the Azerbaijani language by Professor Ramiz Asker of the Baku State University, who is a well-known Azerbaijani translator and earlier this year, had been a laureate of the President's art contest "Turkmenin Altyn Asyr" for the translations of works created by the prominent Turkmen writers and poets into Azerbaijani language.

Magtymguly's rich heritage has been an important and integral part of the centuries-old culture of Turkmenistan.

"The publication of the new edition of the poems created by the outstanding poet and humanist, a true singer of the Turkmen land in the Azerbaijani language testifies to expansion of traditional spiritual and cultural contacts between the two friendly peoples," the local media reported.

The two countries signed an agreement to hold the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan hosted by Ashgabat in November 2009 and the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan organized in Azerbaijan this November, in a bid to strengthen their cultural ties.
