The newly appointed Norwegian Ambassador to Azerbaijan visits AUL - PHOTOS

On October 12, rector of Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL), MP, prof. Samad Seyidov hosted Erling Skjonsberg, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Azerbaijan. Seyidov spoke of the current relations between AUL and Norwegian Universities.

“The ties between our universities are successfully underway and it can be a good example to our relationss with other universities from the point of view of these projects. We are proud that Azerbaijani students not only try to speak the Norwegian language, they also try to build special bridge between our countries”, he said.

Erling Skjonsberg said that he was greatly pleased with the development of the project and added that the exchange of students would improve cultural and educational issues. Speaking about the ties between Oslo University and AUL he pointed out that he supported the continuation of the project.

He expressed his confidence regarding the  improvement of the technical and other aspects due to this project. Seyidov in his turn said that Caucasian speciality in AUL has been opened this year, and added, that American, Jewish, Korean, French, Italy, Indonesian and other centers already function successfully. Among them Scandinavian Studies Center place a special role and it will enable to study Norwegian language.

In his turn Erling Skjonsberg said that “A language is the reflection of a nation and learning language is of great significance. In some fields I can say that we have common customs, traditions and culture ”

Later Erling Skjonsberg visited the Scandinavian Center and met with the students studying Norwegian language and he also got acquainted with the Information Resource Complex (IRC) of AUL.

It is worth mentioning,  from July 26 to August 6 of this year 9 teachers and 10 students of AUL were present at the International Summer School of Oslo University. 37 students study at Scandinavian studies school and 2 Norwegian teachers work as language instructors at the same school. Scandinavian Center of AUL was opened on  May 3, 2007 due to the agreement between Azerbaijan University of Languages and Agder and Oslo Universities.
