SOCAR, ANAS Institute of Radiation Problems conduct joint environmental work

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the Institute of Radiation Problems of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) conduct research to measure the radiation background in the areas of the Absheron Peninsula polluted by oil and oil products and to study species composition and number of terrestrial invertebrates in these areas, SOCAR reported on Monday.

The representatives of SOCAR and Institute of Radiation Problems ANAS measured the radiation background and took samples of polluted soil from the territory of the Surkhany Oil Company.

These samples will be probed in vitro, also species composition and number of invertebrates will be studied. The study is planned to develop proposals for the bioremediation of oil polluted land in the territories.
