
Some 2,793,762 square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared from mines and unexploded ammunition last month, according to the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA). As a result of operations about 3,236 mines and unexploded ammunition were found and neutralized. In August, about 12 anti-tank and four anti-personnel mines were found.
About 425 experts participated and 115 assistants, as well as the six mechanical demining machines and 30 mine-detection dogs participated in the operations. So far the agency cleared 141,256,267 square meters of land, found and neutralized 625,200 mines and unexploded ammunition. ANAMA operates in Agjabedi, Agdam, Agstafa, Beylagan, Gadabay, Goranboy, Goy-Gol, Terter, Fuzuli regions of the country and and Garadag district of Baku.
