Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov will participate in an international congress of countries using intelligent traffic management systems in Korea on Oct. 25-29.

Participants will share their experience of traffic management systems and new technologies.
Azerbaijan will fully implement an intelligent traffic management system by late February. The system will control passenger transport in Baku. An intellectual management system center will also be constructed by late 2010. Construction began last year.
The project is estimated roughly 77 million manat.
Under the system, plans include creating 639 parking areas for buses and some 140 parking areas for taxis. So far, 375 bus stop have been created and 289 more will be opened. Roughly 42 bus stops will also be replaced and 10 more will be liquidated.
The system also includes making 450 new bus stops with electronic boards monitoring traffic and bus routes via satellite. Displays and cameras at the bus stops will be used to monitor the effectiveness of bus stop locations.
