Azerbaijan installed a highest automatic meteorology station in CIS.

The station is located at a height of 4171 m at the Tufandagh summit. It is third station of the Hydro-Meteorological and Environmental Research Center, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Irada Ibrahimova said.
The first station was installed at a height of 3700 m in the Shahdagh Mountain’s area and another one at 2700 m in Shahduzu area. The stations based on solar power will be used for researching the Bazarduzu, Shahdagh and Tufandagh ecosystems.
The most active glaciers in Azerbaijan are in Tufandagh area. Ibrahimova said the glaciers were indicators of the global climate changes. Their area is reduced as a result of global warming throughout the world. The stations installed in Azerbaijan will enable to observe the global climate changes on the basis of glacier and meteorological researches and to contribute to the world’s global climate change research.
