Awareness raising trainings to be held for chairmen of constituencies in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) held a meeting today, APA reports. The meeting protocol of the CEC dating back to August 3, 2010, was confirmed.
Following this, the issue of the trainings for raising awareness of the members of the lower election commissions was considered. Chairman of CEC Mazahir Panahov said the trainings will be held in accordance with the National Action Plan on Human Rights signed by Azerbaijani President in 2006.

The trainings for the chairmen of 125 election constituencies will be held in Baku from August 23. The representatives of the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, Prosecutor General’s Office, Interior Ministry, Justice Ministry will train the participants. Mazahir Panahov said the leadership of the Appeals Court will hold meetings with chairmen of the election constituencies. The process will end on August 29.

Panahov said the awareness raising events will be held with the participation of the representatives of the Presidential Administration and CEC.

The amendments to the CEC Regulations were also considered at the meeting. CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov said according to the amendments to the election legislation, amendments and annexes are to be made to the CEC Regulations. The issue was put to the vote and approved. Changes were made in the composition of the election commissions.
