"Armed individuals continue attempts to transport drugs at Azerbaijani-Iranian border"

A situation concerning armed individuals' attempts to transport drugs at the Azerbaijani-Iranian border remains tense, the State Frontier Service Chief Elchin Guliyev told journalists today.

"A few days ago, a similar incident took place at the border with Iran and as a result of actions taken by border guards, an attempt to smuggle drugs into Azerbaijan was prevented, " Guliyev said.

According to him, the State Frontier Service's employees seized a large consignment of cigarettes and drugs; one of the armed border violators has been rendered harmless.
