
JSC "Azerbaijan Railways" is working to restore about 10 kilometers of railway bed on the Osmanli-Azadkand span, where shrinkage has occurred due to rise in the Kur River, the head of JSC the press service Nadir Azmammadov said.
Also preparation of projects for the construction of a new bridge at 15 km of the sapn Osmanli-Azadkend and road restoration is underway.
In recent days, floods occurred in 40 districts of Azerbaijan due to rise in Kur River and rainfalls. As a result of the disaster, about 20,000 houses were flooded, more than 300 destroyed, 2,000 became unsafe, 50,000 hectares of cultivated land left under water.
According to Azmamadov, problems have occurred because of the flood on the span of Osmanli-Azadkend. In order to prevent flooding of residential areas, measures have been taken for passing water under the road span. Cars with stone slabs, old concrete sleepers are delivered to the spot for conducting shore protection works.
