Azerbaijan's education minister meets UNICEF officials

Azerbaijan's Minister of Education Misir Mardanov met UNICEF Regional Director for CEE/CIS Steven Allen and the organization's representative in the country Mark Hereward on May 13.

Mardanov hailed UNICEF's cooperation with Azerbaijan.

“Our joint work has produced good results, in particular, in the field of education. We've made outstanding achievements in raising teachers' skills and experience and in creating parent-teacher associations.”

Allen said the Azerbaijani government and UNESCO are going to discuss a 2011-2015 Action Plan in June. He touched upon the protection of childrens' rights, saying parent-teacher associations play significant role in this regard.
