Ethnic Georgian Azerbaijanis to study in Georgian universities without entrance exams

Ethnic Georgian Azerbaijanis will be allowed to enter Georgian universities without taking the unified entrance exams, Culture Minister Nika Rurua said.

Rurua made the statement during a meeting with State Theater and Cinema University Rector Georgi Margvelashvili and prospective students from the Gazakh region of Azerbaijan. The university began consultations Georgians living in Azerbaijan upon the ministry's initiative, he told journalists.

"As citizens of a foreign country, applicants will not have to take the unified national exams and they will be enrolled in university after successfully completing the enrollment process," Rurua said.

Ten Georgians from Azerbaijan will study directing and acting next year.
