How much does artificial insemination cost in Azerbaijan?

Unfortunately, in recent years a growing number of couples became unable to conceive a child naturally. With the growth of such phenomena in medicine there are certain innovations. For example, 5-10 years ago hardly anyone knew about artificial insemination.

In case when therapeutic intervention is ineffective, the family can order "test-tube baby". Technology of "test-tube baby" or artificial insemination means the exercise in the laboratory processes in the womb of a woman. This means that embryo, created in the laboratory with use of sperm cells of a man and a woman once again is placed in woman's womb.

According to the specialist on artificial insemination Sevinj Sevdimaliyeva the received woman's ovule is then fertilized by sperm of her husband, and after 2-3 days the embryo is placed in the uterus. 12-14 days later the analysis along with the pregnancy test should be made.

In Europe, this method is being used for a long period of time - the first such child was born 28 years ago. But many of us do not know about the technology of "test-tube baby".

Experts say that many people simply ignore this method. "They say they will not have children. It all comes from their ignorance. A child born by artificial insemination is the genetic material of both mother and father. The rumours have it, that these children may be sick or such children can have some genetic disorders. There is no difference between women who become pregnant in this way, or by natural means."

As for the legal side of this issue, Sevinj Sevdimaliyeva said that if the couple is 18 years of age or older, and is officially married, they have the right to pass this process. The individuals applied to the hospital with this purpose are provided the detailed information about artificial insemination; they are explained the positive and negative aspects of this process. In addition, the details of the process are written in the declaration-agreement. Artificial insemination can take place only after reading and signing this declaration.

It should be noted, that if this method is used, the twins are born most of the time. Doctors believe this is a natural phenomenon. The sex of the child can also be chosen beforehand.  The whole process costs at least 3000-4500 AZN.
