Azerbaijani representative reports on intangible heritage at Budapest symposium

First secretary of the Azerbaijan national commission for UNESCO Gunay Efendiyeva delivered a report on Azerbaijan's intangible cultural heritage and safeguarding cultural values through cooperation with UNESCO at an international symposium entitled “European intangible cultural heritage”.

The event is organized by the Budapest's Ethnology Institute and European Folklore Institute. The report narrated on President Ilham Aliyev's paying special attention to safeguarding material and intangible heritage of Azerbaijan.

Efendiyeva pointed out, that Azerbaijani works to include Azerbaijan's art of carpet weaving into the world intangible heritage list. She also underlined the services of UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva in protecting cultural values in the country.

The secretary gave a background of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and provided information about destroying museums, manuscripts in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
