The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry held regular monitoring of pollution in the transboundary Kur and Araz Rivers during the second decade of March, the ministry said.
During the second decade of March, water consumption in the Kur River increased by 670 cubic meters per second to 960 cubic meters per second.
The monitoring found that phenol and copper are strong pollutants. Biogenic substances exceeded the norm at points where the river is subjected to transboundary contamination in Georgia and Armenia.
Water consumption in the Araz River was 118 cubic meters per sec.
The water's oxygen regime at all points remained at the corridor of 6.65-7.45 milligrams per liter.
