Azerbaijan to ban import of vehicles not meeting European standards

Azerbaijan will ban import of vehicles that do not meet European standards from July 1, head of the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov said at a press conference today.

"European countries will introduce Euro-5 standard. We will begin Euro-2 standard," he said.

According to Hasanov, operations on introducing national standards are conducted jointly with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), as "local fuel also must correspond with European standards."
