Azerbaijan’s chess team became European champion

European Team Chess Championship completed in the Serbian city of Novi Sad on Oct. 30.
Azerbaijan’s men's team became European champio after beating the Dutch team (2,5:1,5).

Vugar Gashimov beat Dutch Daniel Stellvagen after a long and bitter struggle.

The other three games ended in a draw. As a result, Azerbaijan scored 15 points and 1 point ahead of Russia.

The Azerbaijani women’s team ranked 4th after wining over the Slovenian team.

Russia’s women’s team was the first.
