Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council expects more significant changes on local TV channels.
"Following the statement made by chief of Azerbaijani presidential administration, certain positive changes have been made in activity of TV and radio channels in the country," Chairman of the Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli said.

"These changes are not at the level we expected. But the process advances. Shortages in radio programs is being removed," he said.

Maharramli said many of the television channels have changed theme of the programs.

"But we expect more changes," Maharramli said.

As to proposals on increase of the Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council's authority to exercise more strong control over activity of TV channels, Maharramli said that the council does not want to interfere in creative work via administrative ways.

"But this issue is on agenda. Its solving depends on legislative body. Once we were accused of intention to expand our authority. If we had got this authority in time, we would not have had these problems," he said.

Maharramli said that the Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Council plans to hold trainings together with the E-media Assistance Foundation in Nov. and Dec.

"Famous TV and radio specialists, presenters on TV channels, as well as people responsible for policy of channels' programs will attend the trainings," Maharramli said.
