Shehriyar Mammadyarov: "Most chess players would do the same as Kramnik"

06 October 2006 [10:43] - TODAY.AZ
"Kramnik won two games and played to two draws out of 12 games. I think Kramnik did not need this scandal. Topalov gained one score and psychological advantage," Shehriyar Mammadyarov, Azerbaijani grand master told.

He said the dispute in the game of Vaselin Topalov of Bulgaria with Vladimir Kramnik of Russia harms the image of chess, APA reports.

"I think most chess players would do the same as Kramnik. He faced injustice. It is not true to accuse Kramnik of taking too many bathroom breaks. If he had secretly used a computer or some other device to help him with his moves he would not have lost the game," he said.
