Nizami Pashayev won a gold medal

Azerbaijani athlete Nizami Pashayev hauled 402 kilos in total to take the overall gold in the men's 94kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships in Poland.

Pashayev totalled 402 kilos on Suturday, but it was the 25-year-old's snatch winning effort of 186 kilos that helped him gain the title ahead of Poland's Szymon Kolecki who was second in the clean and jerk with 217 kilos.

Andrey Demanov of Russia became third with 393 kilos in total. 18-year-old Arsen Kasabiyev of Georgia won the clean and jerk copmpetition by lifting 220 kilos.
