Capital experiences its hottest summer

Hot weather continues to spread across Azerbaijan. The country’s capital city is experiencing its hottest weather in over 120 years.

Temperature in Baku reached +43-44 ?C on July 1, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. An abnormal heat is expected in the capital and Absheron peninsula on July 3-4.

Head of a department at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva said earlier that one of the indicators of climate change is the anomalous summer.

“The analysis shows that when comparing the weather in 1961 and 1990, the number of hot air flows has increased significantly. If earlier in the summer three hot airflows were recorded, then over the past 25 years, their number has reached 17,” she said.

Tagiyeva added that this trend will be observed this year too. The most anomalously hot weather will rule on the territory of the Republic in July and August. At the same time, the heat will be long. The air temperature on some days will exceed the climatic norm by five to six degrees.

Earlier, Baku citizens experienced abnormally hot weather last August. The temperature reached +41.6 ?C

Meanwhile, average monthly temperature is predicted to be +26-29?C which is close to the climatic norm.

At nights temperature will be +23-28?C at night. In the afternoons of the first half of the month the temperature will be + 36-41?C but in several days will rise up +30-34?C.

Monthly precipitation will be close to the climatic norm (2-3 mm) and a little below the norm in some places.

In Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic, average monthly temperature is predicted to be +26-29?C which is close to the climatic norm and above the norm. At nights temperature will be +20-25?C.

In the afternoons the temperature will be +32-37?C but will rise up to +39-41?C in the several days.

 In Upper Karabakh: Khankandi, Shusha, Khojali, Khocavand; Gubadli, Zangilan, Lachin, Kalbajar and Dashkasan, Gadabay regions, average monthly temperature predicted to be +18-22?C which is nigh to the climatic norm.

At nights the temperature will be +15-20?C. In the afternoons temperature will be +23-28?C, and will be+30-35?C in some days.

Average monthly temperature in Gazakh-Ganja, Goranboy, Tar-Tar-Agdam-Agjabadi-Fuzuli-Jabrail regions is predicted to be +26-28?C which is close to the climatic norm.

At nights the temperature will be +21-26?C. In the afternoons the temperature will be +32-37?C, will be +39-41?C in some days in the second and third decade.

 In Balakan, Zagatala, Qakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, ?smailly, Agsu, Shamakhy, Siyazan, Shabran, Khizi, Guba, Khachmaz, Gusar regions, average monthly temperature is predicted to be +24-27?C which is close to the climatic norm.

At nights the temperature will be +20-25?C. In the afternoons temperature will be from +29-34?C, will be +37-39?C in some days.

 In Central-Aran: Agdash, Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Kurdamir, ?mishli, Beylagan, Sabirabad, Bilasuvar, Saatli, Shirvan, Haj?gabul, Salyan, Neftchala regions, average monthly temperature is predicted to be +26-29?C which is close to the climatic norm.

At nights the temperature will be +22-27?C. In the afternoons the temperature will be from +35-39?C, will be +41-43?C in some days in the second and third decade.

Monthly rainfall is expected to be close to the climatic norm (norm 3-22 mm) and a little above the norm in some places.

Average monthly temperature in Masall?-Lankaran-Astara-Lerik, Yardimli regions is predicted to be +23-27?C which is close to the climatic norm.

At nights the temperature will be +20-25?C. In the afternoons the temperature will be from +32-37?C, will rise up to +40?C in some days in the second and third decade.
