Portugal’s beloved trademarks - wine and Fado, a type of Portuguese singing that is renowned for its expressive and profoundly melancholic character, were presented in Baku on November 21.

The event timed to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relation between Portugal and Azerbaijan was organized by the Mission of Portugal and Honorary Consulate in Azerbaijan and gathered members of diplomatic corps, wine industry experts as well as media representatives.

During the event, a Portuguese wine producer - Wine With Spirit – presented its products and informed the participants about the company.

“We select the premium Portuguese grapes to design and produce easy to drink, emotionally compelling and high quality wine, associated to a rigorous qualitative and certified criteria (Wine Growing Committee). The demands of this challenge make us study markets, people, land and vineyards, fragrances and flavors.  All this, has made us receive several national and international prizes and awards,” the company’s CEO Joao Pedro Montes said.

Wine With Spirit aims to bring delicious, creative and exclusive wines to the market. Founded by Portuguese wine lovers who believe that wine consumption is driven by emotions and moments instead of pure technicalities, Wine With Spirit was designed since its origin as a global brand, and it is already present in several countries in four continents.

Considered as the world’s most innovative winery at 2014 Wine Business Innovation Summit in Germany, and with more than 100 years’ experience in making wine, WWS created Enotainment®, a universe of sharing and interaction where entertainment and fun are at the base of a new way of drinking wine and experiencing life.

This evening was accompanied with Fado by Maria Ana Bobone and Rodrigo Serrão.  Maria Ana Boboneis unanimously recognized as one of the best of her generation's fadistas.

Her debut album entitled “Alma Nova” set the beginning of a brilliant career. Then, she recorded two albums for MA Recordings - “Luz Destino” and “Senhora da Lapa”, revealing a refined musical taste and where she welcomes new instruments to her Fado (harpsichord and saxophone) in addition to the usual presence of the Portuguese guitar.

The album Fado&Piano released June 2012 in partnership with her producer Rodrigo Serrão, reveals the full dimension of Maria Ana’s talent: composing, writing, singing, creating musical arrangements and playing all the songs on the piano.

Maria Ana performs regularly at numerous festivals and concert halls throughout the world, presenting Fado Music and Portuguese culture in other countries such as England, USA, Brazil, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Italy, Morocco, Malta, Netherlands, India and Egypt.
