Small tremors are being recorded after the earthquake in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district, Gurban Yetirmishli, director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center (RSSC) of Azerbaijan’s National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), told Trend on November 16.

He added that the quake didn't cause any heavy damage.

“An earthquake centered 25 km beneath the surface is not destructive,” he noted. “Our seismic station in Aghdam district is located in the epicenter, and there weren't even ordinary cracks on it. There are weak constructions in villages of the district, and cracks may appear there, even walls may be destroyed.”

“The deeper the earthquake’s epicenter is, the greater is the amplitude of fluctuations, however there is little probability that such earthquake can cause destruction,” he added.

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit Aghdam district Nov. 15 at 11.48 p.m. (GMT +4). The earthquake occurred at depth of 25 km.

Another earthquake measuring magnitude 3 in the epicenter was recorded Nov. 16 at 02:02 a.m. in Azerbaijan’s Barda district. The earthquake occurred at depth of 25 km. The earthquake was felt in surrounding areas.
