"The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides..."

Audrey Hepburn

Woman is God’s most beautiful creation. She is a partner in life, but also a mystery that not one can unfold. Perhaps she  is really a light from God.  Like Roman goddess Venus, she carries the beauty, life and harmony on our planet.

In a sense, women hold the keys to unlocking a man’s potential. Her praise and encouragement inspires men to believe in himself.

She inspires him to be better, to work both harder and smarter, to be fair, kind and passionate. She inspires him to be the best possible human being he could ever be because he believes that she deserves nothing less.

A lot can be said to describe this mystery of nature.

Human history gives a very confusing picture of women role in society. In some cases she was the dominant figure, while in many cultures she has been viewed as minor.

Nowadays women have achieved ever increasing levels of emancipation.

Women’s rights enshrined by the United Nations for every human being on the planet nearly 70 years ago. These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination, to be educated, to own property, to vote, and to earn a fair and equal wage.

Women all over the world celebrate International Women's Day on March 8 -- a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Every year hundreds of organizations around the world, undertake some ventures to celebrate International Women's Day either by organizing a sports event or a debate and discussion session.

The theme for International Women’s Day in 2017 focuses on “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”.

The theme also focuses on new commitments under UN Women’s Step It Up initiative, and other existing commitments on gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s human rights.

International Women's Day has been celebrated by the United Nations on 8 March since 1975.

It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements irrespective of national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

The idea of celebration was put forward for the first time by Clara Zetkin, German activist, at an International Conference of women-socialists, held in Copenhagen.

Many women joined the struggle for their equality. The first countries celebrating this day were Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark.

This holiday has started to be marked in Azerbaijan since 1917.

Azerbaijan was the first country to have granted women the right of vote.

Nowadays, Azerbaijani women occupy a significant place in society. They are closely involved in the socio-political, socio-economic, scientific, cultural, and other aspects of life and enjoy the same legal rights as men.

The State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Problems was established in Azerbaijan in 1998.

Azerbaijan is also represented in the Council of Europe’s bureau on women and is a full-fledged member of the UN Commission on women’s issues.
