March to bring spring to Azerbaijan

Higher temperatures are on the way and Azerbaijan will soon enjoy the first sun rays of spring. While sunlight will heat up the surface, the sky will be more vivid with buds on trees and the first stirrings of change.

Forecasters predicted that the long-awaited warmer temperatures will be close to the climate norm in March, sometimes exceeding it.

“The amount of monthly precipitation will be close to the average, while sometimes the figure will be above normal,” the National Hydrometeorology Department reported.

The average monthly temperature in Baku and Absheron Peninsula will stand at 5-8 degrees Celsius, sometimes 19-24C, although there may be some frost in the evenings.

The sunny spell is expected to continue in southern regions, where temperatures could peak at 25C.

In the south regions including Masall?, Lankaran, Astara, Lerik, Yardimli regions, the air temperature is predicted to be 5-8C, rising up to 20-25C in some days.

The average monthly temperature in Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic will be 5-9C. At nights the temperature will be 3-8?C, while during the day it will reach 11-16C.

In Gazakh, Ganja, Goranboy, Tar-Tar, Agdam, Agjabadi, Fuzuli and Jabrail regions the average monthly temperature is expected to be 5-7C which is close to the climatic norm. At some nights, however, the temperature will drop to 0-4 degrees of frost.

Azerbaijan’s Balakan, Zagatala, Qakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, ?smailly, Agsu, Shamakhy, Siyazan, Shabran, Khizi, Guba, Khachmaz and Gusar regions will see the air temperature of 4-6C, sometimes increasing up to 17-22C.

Temperatures in Central Aran -- Agdash, Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Kurdamir, ?mishli, Beylagan, Sabirabad, Bilasuvar, Saatli, Shirvan, Haj?gabul, Salyan and Neftchala regions will be close to the climatic norm between 7C and 9C. In some days the temperature will be from 0-3C of frost.

As for Upper Karabakh -- Khankandi, Shusha, Khojali, Khocavand; Gubadli, Zangilan, Lachin, Kalbajar and Dashkasan and Gadabay regions, here the weather is predicted to be 1-3C which is close to the climatic norm. In the afternoons temperature will stand at 8-13C, rising to 18C in some days.

March will also please Azerbaijanis with the loveliest national festive Novruz Bayram, marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring.
