Azerbaijan’s embassy investigating presence of Azerbaijanis among Istanbul blast victims

Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Turkey and Consulate General in Istanbul are checking whether there are Azerbaijanis among victims of the Jan. 12 explosion in Istanbul, Trend has learned from both diplomatic missions.

Azerbaijani diplomats are keeping in touch with law enforcement agencies of Turkey.

An explosion occurred Jan. 12 in the central square of Istanbul, killing a number of people.

Reportedly, the explosion occurred near the central mosque when tourists were passing by.

According to some Turkish media, the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber, but so far there are no official statements about the incident.
