No surprise to Azerbaijan: Stable weather expected in January

The weather in the first month of 2016 is forecasted to be close to the climate norm in Azerbaijan.

The National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry reported that the average monthly precipitation in January will also be close to the norm, only sometimes exceeding it.

The weather in Baku and Absheron Peninsula will stand at 3-5 Celsus above zero. The highest temperature which will be recorded this January predicted to be 12 degrees, with the lowest temperature at 2 degrees below zero.

The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will experience an average temperature from 2 degrees below zero to 1 degree above zero during the month. Sometimes, the temperature will drop up to 13-18 degrees below zero.

The average monthly temperature in Khankandi, Shusha, Khojali, Lachin, Zangilan, Dashkasan and Gadabay regions of Upper Karabakh is expected to be 1-3 degrees below zero, dropping to 12-17 degrees below zero in some days. In January precipitation in these regions will exceed the norm.

The forecast predicts that the monthly temperature in Ganja, Gazakh, Terter, Agdam, Fuzuli and Jabrail regions will stand between 1-3 degrees above zero, increasing to 5-10 degrees in some days. Nights expected to be cooler 0-5 degrees below zero.

In Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Ismailli, Shamakhi, Shabran, Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz regions the weather will be close to norm. The average temperature will be between 2 degrees above zero and 2 degrees below zero. The temperature will stand at 8-13 degrees above zero in some days, while in mountains areas it will drop to 18-23 degrees below zero.

Central Aran -- Mingachevir, Yevlakh, Geychay, Agdash, Kurdamir, Imishli, Beylagan, Sabirabad, Shirvan, Bilasuvar, Saatli, Neftchala and Salyan regions will see the average temperature between 3 and 5 C above zero, with the highest degree reaching +12C and lowest at -10C.

In the southern regions of Masalli, Yardimli, Lerik and Astara, the monthly average temperature will be 1-5 degrees C above zero.
