Security measures tightened ahead of holidays

The law enforcement bodies will ensure full security throughout Azerbaijan during the upcoming holidays –World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and New Year.

The Emergency Situations Ministry has announced that the ministry’s staff shifted to enhanced mode to operatively prevent any possible emergency events and ensure the public safety during the holidays.

Baku’s Traffic Police will also work in enhanced mood, said Vagif Asadov, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Baku city Traffic Police Department.

The transition to the enhanced mode will ensure the safe movement on the capital’s roads during the holidays, which officially will last until January 4.

“The traffic police will take the necessary measures to ensure safety in all areas where the celebrations will take place,” Asadov noted.

Meanwhile, Baku Metro which usually operates till midnight, will operate until 1 a.m. on December 31.

The change is made to ensure comfort of the citizens, who want to attend the firework show in the city center. The firework show will take place at the Baku Boulevard and start after the Clock Tower chimes midnight.
