Azerbaijani village opens in heart of Paris

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has sponsored the opening of an “Azerbaijani Village in the Heart of Paris,” on Palais Royal Square on August 29.

The Azerbaijani Village is displaying the country’s history, culture, folk art, traditions, and national cuisine in France for the second time, the Foundation reports.

Each part of the village sits conveniently of the Louvre, a museum that already gathers millions of visitors, and will create vast possibilities to present Azerbaijan at many levels and bring the two nations closer.

An exhibition complete with information on carpet-making, pottery, and other types of art, along with national dresses and musical instruments will be arranged in the village.

Moreover, visitors will have the chance to become acquainted with the process of creating these pieces of art in the “Workshop” section. Artisans form the country will make copper dishes, lattice, carpets, and other pieces of art that showcase Azerbaijan’s rich traditions.

The village will also display a photo exhibition consisting of the works of famous Azerbaijanis living in France and Frenchmen living in Azerbaijan. Entitled “Azerbaijanis and Frenchmen: the history of acquaintance,” the exhibition praises the histories of the two countries and nations.

Another village pavilion will display Azerbaijan’s national cuisine. At the same time, various sweets and drinks will be served at the stands of various local companies operating in Azerbaijan.

Visitors to the event will be able to enjoy the taste of the delicious dishes of Azerbaijani cuisine prepared in the village.

Publications by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation covering various areas of Azerbaijani culture will be distributed at the exhibition.

The concert program is sure to cheer up visitors with an eclectic display of Azerbaijani music and dance.

The Azerbaijani Village was first arranged by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on Paris’s Saint Sulpice Square last September. The event was welcomed by visitors and created great opportunities for the deepening of relations with Azerbaijan.

The village will be open for all interested in the Land of Fire until September 9.
