Baku visitors to enjoy free WiFi

Baku population and guests will enjoy free Internet access this June.

Public place across Baku will deploy wireless access points Wi-Fi, said Ali Abbasov, Communications and High Technologies Minister.

This June Baku will welcome 6,000 athletes from 50 countries during the inaugural Baku 2015 European Games. The whole country is preparing to the historic event.

Wireless internet access will cover parks, venue for the first European Games including Olympic Village, and adjacent areas.

"The vast majority of Wi-Fi access points will be deployed mostly by mobile operators and service providers. We offer to provide these services free of charge for two months, and then they can carry out this activity on a commercial basis," Abbasov said.

Today, the territory of the Seaside Park in Baku is fully covered by a wireless network.

Earlier, the Office of Baku's National Seaside Park said "Mirvari" three-storey cruiser will be equipped with Wi-Fi access points, which will allow people using wireless internet access to get connected in the water area.

Wireless technology of Wi-Fi is the most appropriate for users, as the market is full of devices supporting this standard.

Free Internet access will be useful for tourists to find information, maps and share their travel to Azerbaijan in social media.

Tickets for Baku 2015 can be purchased directly from 11 conveniently located ticket outlets around Baku, including Park Bulvar, 28 Mall, and Metro Park Baku, and online atwww.baku2015.com/tickets.
