Earthquake hits Azerbaijan’s southern district

An earthquake jolted the southern Lerik district of Azerbaijan Oct. 16.

The earthquake occurred at 15:48 (local time), 19 kilometers east of the city of Lerik, according to the Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The earthquakes’ magnitude was 3.1 on the Richter scale, and its source was at a depth of 21 kilometers.

The earthquake was not felt.
