Many people like hot weather, enjoy every ray of sun and love to melt on the beach, but sometimes it can leave dangerous consequences.

Heat stroke can kill or cause damage to the brain and other internal organs of our body. Although heat stroke mainly affects people over age 50, it also takes a toll on healthy young athletes.

Fainting may be the first sign of sunstroke. Other symptoms may include throbbing headache, red, hot, and dry skin, nausea and vomiting.

The rules of sunstroke prevention are simple: not to stay in the sun during the midday hours, wear a hat and sunglasses and drink more (but not alcohol). A wonderful day, on the beach playing volleyball, often turns to a terrible night with a headache and fever. The effects of sunstroke can be manifested after 6-7 hours.

If a person is diagnosed with sun stroke, it is necessary to take away him or her from the sun and provide them with oxygen. Then take off their excess cloths, open collar and relax the belt.

With the beginning of summer season, as many as 35 people have sought doctor help for being heat stroke.

Fortunately, there was no report of death. Doctors strongly recommend people to take care of themselves and try to spend less time in the sun.

The temperature of 51 degrees above zero shown by the devices installed in different bus-stops is alarming. This fact shows that this summer is one of the hottest on record.

However, Director of the Office of Hydrometeorological Forecasts of National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva noted that the temperature did not exceed 41 degrees above zero in Baku.

What these indicators on these devices mean?

Tagiyeva explained this by the fact that the devices which show 48 and 51 degrees above zero are placed under the sun and as they are iron-based, they heat quickly.

Public Service of Labour Inspection under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Azerbaijan have appealed to employers of the organizations and enterprises in the country to suspend all work on the outdoors until 17:00 on August 20 because of the hot weather across the country.

But there is good news for us, as since August 21 the temperature is expected to drop a few degrees.

So, the temperature is forecasted to be 24-27 degrees above zero at night and 30-35 degrees above zero during the day in Baku and Absheron peninsula.
