About $45 billion needed for road reconstruction works in Azerbaijan

Some 30-35 billion manat is needed for the reconstruction of roads in Azerbaijan, head of JSC Azeryolservis (roads construction and maintenance) Javid Gurbanov told journalists on Wednesday.

"The length of the roads in Azerbaijan is about 20,000 kilometres. Some 30-35 billion manat is needed to bring them into proper condition," Gurbanov said.

He said this work can be completed over a period of about 15 years.

"Intensive work is underway in Azerbaijan on the reconstruction of old and the laying of new roads. Over the past five years Azerbaijan has laid a first degree road with length of 1500 kilometres which is a good indicator," Gurbanov said.
