Seismological Service Center denies reports on quake forecast in Sheki

The Republican Seismological Service Center (RSSC) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science issued statement on rumors among the population about the expected quake in Sheki. The center reported that it has received many telephone calls and appeals today concerning these rumors. The journalists also took interest and asked the center.

“We announce once again that nobody in the world can predict quake. So, the reports on quake in Sheki are groundless”.

The center wants to note that the occurrence of certain aftershocks in that region as an impact of quake occurred in Zagatala is normal and these aftershocks will weaken.

“We ask all media representatives to carry out educational work among the education to prevent groundless fear and anxiety among the people” – the statement reads.
