In connection with the Eurovision 2012 Song Contest, the majority of medical institutions of Baku will be working in reinforced regime, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev chaired a special meeting to discuss the progress of work and medical care of guests who will arrive in the country for the contest.
Deputy Head of Main Health Department of Baku Rauf Naghiyev noted that appropriate measured are made to organise medical services for visitors and participants.
In order to provide assistance if needed during rehearsals from May 13 to 20 and during the contest from May 21 to 26, health workers have been trained, and in the relevant departments of local hospitals 103 beds were allocated.
Naghiyev said that in the clinical medicine centre 40 doctors specializing in internal medicine, neurology, cardiology, intensive care, trauma, surgery for children and adults, including oral and maxillofacial surgery, toxicology, obstetrics, gynecology and infectious diseases, underwent special courses of foreign languages. The second Children's Hospital also conducted for 10 doctors specialized language courses. Similar measures have been taken at City Hospital ? 5 and nursing home ? 5.
In these days 31 teams of ambulance and emergency care in Baku will be on duty, 13 of them in hotels, 11 - in Baku Crystal Hall (seven during rehearsals and additional four during the contest), five teams - at the Palace of Hand Games (four during rehearsals and an additional one during the competition), two teams - the Seaside park (Baku Boulevard). 104 doctors of these teams and 37 paramedical workers underwent foreign language courses.
The meeting participants noted that officers of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of Azerbaijan will provide monitoring of compliance with sanitary requirements of food in public places.
In conclusion, the Minister stressed the importance of conducting a contest in Azerbaijan and noted that it is important to make every effort for its successful implementation.
