23 February 2012 [16:59] - TODAY.AZ
The work on creating a fibre-optic infrastructure to provide a backup communication system during the Eurovision-2012 song contest in Baku is complete, Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan said on Thursday.

Work has been carried out in accordance with a comprehensive plan approved by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, which imposes certain tasks to all the subdivision departments.

A communication line has been laid from Baku Crystal Hall to the television tower and towards the direction of the Office of the Public Television (ITV) and TV stations in Ganja.

The works include the organisation of a broadcast in high definition (HD TV-High Definition TV) between Baku and Frankfurt and the organisation of digital television broadcasts over the Trans-Asia-Europe cable line.

TV broadcasts in the Baku and Absheron peninsula will be fully digitised on the eve of Eurovision-2012, the ministry told Trend earlier.

Additionally, TV and radio channels in HD will also be launched. Work in this direction is being implemented by ITV, which is the organiser and broadcaster of Eurovision-2012 in Azerbaijan. Filming of Eurovision-2012 will also be broadcasted in HD and it should be noted that HD radio will also work.
