Georgian President pardons 171 prisoners on Day of Assumption

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashviili pardoned 171 prisoners on the Day of Assumption.

Corrections and Legal Assistance Minister Khatuna Kalmakhelidze said that the pardoned prisoners will be released today.

Kalmakhelidze said that the Georgian president has also twice lowered the punishment for another 30 prisoners. President Saakashvili signed a pardon decree on the Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin celebrated in Georgia

The list of prisoners pardoned also includes 10 women, 3 minors, and 2 expatriates.
