Ahmadinejad launches housing project

15 August 2011 [16:31] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has inaugurated a major project providing thousands of houses to low-income families in southern Iran, Press TV reported with reference to IRIB News.

As many as 17,645 housing units were launched during a ceremony in Iran's southern Fars Province on Monday.

The Iranian government has been carrying out a major housing plan, Mehr Housing Project, in different parts of the country to build millions of residential units and stabilize housing prices.

Last month, Ahmadinejad also attended a ceremony to mark the launch of 16,000 residential units of the project in East Azerbaijan Province.

Ahmadinejad referred to the inauguration of Mehr Housing Project and said that works related to the project should move ahead rapidly to be able to meet the growing demand for housing across the country.

"Large numbers of Iranians waiting for years to own a home does not suit the nation and stature of the country. The might of the country, including financial, managerial and executive, has been mobilized to address the housing demand," he noted.
