The Tanker Annamaria, sailing under the Marshall Islands flag, was granted permission for passage from Georgian authorities, Georgian Border Police said.
Permission was granted after the ship's Captain Opri Ion, a Romanian citizen, paid the fine imposed by the Batumi Court for polluting along the Black Sea coast of Batumi. Diesel fuel was being poured out of the ship into the water.
The court sentenced the captain with a fine of 65,000 lari ($1 = 1.66 lari), plus 135.17 lari for environmental damage costs.
The tanker was detained in the waters of the Batumi area on July 24.
