Iranian courts review 15 million cases annually

23 June 2011 [17:53] - TODAY.AZ
The number of complaints made to courts in Iran has increased, Iranian Judiciary System Chairman Ayatollah Ali Larijani Sadih said.

"The statistics shows that the courts consider 15 million cases per year," Larijani was quoted by the Iranian Mehr news agency as saying.

About 13 million cases are criminal and civil cases, Larijani said.

"It is impossible to announce the exact number of committed crimes in the country, but I can say with certainty that the number of crimes is less than the number of cases," Larijani said.

Sometimes a judge has to consider 150 criminal cases a year.

"The judicial system will admit 1,000 judges to solve this problem," Larijani said.
