Iran opens international gas, petroleum expo

Iran opened the 16th international gas, petroleum and petrochemical expo, ISNA reported.

Iranian Oil Minister Massoud Mirkazemi and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were presented in the opening ceremony of the expo on Friday.

The expo which runs until April 19 is hosting activists on oil, gas and petrochemistry as well as oil industry machinery.

Some 400 foreign and 900 Iranian companies are taking part in the industry fair which is the second largest specialized one in Iran and the second largest petroleum one in the world.

It seeks further interaction between contractor companies and Iranian and foreigner producers.

Also a ceremony is to be held on the final day of the expo to mark the 50th anniversary of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) establishment with presence of the organization's Secretary General Abdullah al-Badri.

Austria, Spain, the UAE, Britain, Italy, Germany, Thailand, China, Denmark, Russia, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Czech Republic, Holland, India and France have joined the expo.
