Armenian diaspora loses its staunch supporter in the Knesset

05 April 2011 [11:37] - TODAY.AZ
Leader of the Merets Party, the proarmenian deputy Khaim Oron (Jumas) has said goodbye to colleagues and friends in the Israeli parliament. As known, Khaim Oron throughout many years lobbies interests of Armenia and its Diaspora in Israel.

On the eve of his 71st birthday and after almost 20 years of parliamentary activity, the main lobbyist of the Armenian Diaspora leaves policy. He will be replaced by the resident of Vilnius Zakhava Galon - one of the brightest representatives of the left camp throughout last years who represents the most radical wing of the left Zionists.

Throughout last years Khaim Oron annually brought for discussion at the Knesset the question on recognition of the genocide of Armenians. However, all his attempts to convince the Knesset to recognize genocide of Armenians have failed, but he persistently again and again brought up this question. With his leaving the Armenian Diaspora loses its truest lobbyist of the interests in the Knesset.
