Many dead in gas blast in southeast Turkey

Number of injured people increased to 13 after an explosion in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.

The explosion caused by a gas build-up occurred in a three-storey building located at a petrol station in the town of Baglar.

Earlier, The governor of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir said on Tuesday that the explosion in the three-storey market occurred due to a LPG compression.

Governor Mustafa Toprak said the blast that rocked the market in a gas station in the town of Baglar wounded ten people.

"One of the injured is in serious condition," Toprak told reporters.

Toprak said most of the injured were people working in the gas station, and an investigation was under way.

The blast caused parts of the building to collapse.

The injured were taken to various hospitals in the city and police were inspecting the scene.
