In mass media of Armenia which has a reputation of the country, extending lie and slander, there was published information that well-known French actor Gerard Depardieu, ostensibly in common with the Hayastan Al-Armenian Fund has addressed the world community for the purpose of rendering assistance to the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic", not recognized by any state and international organization.

The ambassador of Azerbaijan to France Elchin Amirbeyov stated that Gerard Depardieu resolutely denied the information extended about it.

In conversation with the Ambassador the actor stated that he was extremely surprised by the information extended by the Armenian mass-media that ostensibly he has addressed the international public in connection with the financial help to Nagorno Karabakh.

The film actor told that it is absolute lie, at the same time, and as a known person in the world, he resolutely condemns any aggressive actions and stated that he is far from politics, and doesn`t take any position as it is specified in the information extended by Armenians.

Gerard Depardieu also regarded it as lie which stirs up pure water, and he has refused invitation to participate in opening of the film festival "Karot-2010" in the city of Khankendi of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Azerbaijan Republic and has underlined that he has visited only Yerevan.

He has refused to go to Khankendi as at once has understood that it is a trap, and informed that has visited Yerevan to receive the award which they should hand over.
