Today, the cooperation between the Caspian littoral states has increased, said the Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
"Today, the interest in the implementation of joint cooperation between the littoral states further manifests itself. The changes in the relations between the littoral states is an example of increasing the level of compliance and cooperation between these countries," Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Tuesday in Tehran at the 27th meeting of special representatives of the presidents of the Caspian countries and the deputy foreign ministers on the preparation of the Convention on the legal status of Caspian, the Mehrnews agency reported.
Mottaki said that the equitable division of the Caspian Sea by the littoral states is a requirement and the basic principle of international law. This question is the guarantor of peace and stability in the region.
Mottaki added that Iran is a supporter of solidarity of all decisions related to the Caspian Sea.
"In negotiations on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, it needs to show softening of position and take into account the interests of countries," said Mottaki.
Mottaki added that the preparation of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea will create useful ground for the development of regional cooperation in the Caspian Sea, especially in economy, politics and security.
