President of Turkey approved the nomination of a new Army Chief of Staff

Army Gen. Ishik Koshaner, who is now the commander of land forces, will become the new Chief of Staff of the Turkish army. Turkish President Abdullah Gul approved the nomination of Koshaner at a meeting with the current Chief of General Staff, General Ilker Bashbug and Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, according to CNN Turk television channel.

Ishik Koshaner will succeed General Ilker Bashbug who will retire August 30 due his age. Gen. Erdal Ceylanoglu will be the new Commander-in-Chief of land forces. Gen. Hayri Kivrikoglu to be Commander of the First Army of Turkish Armed Forces. Gen. Necdet Ozel appointed as a Commander of gendarmery. General Nusret Tashdeler appointed as the new head of the Aegean Army.
