FBI director visits Georgia

FBI Director, Robert Mueller, who paid visit to Georgia on May 7 met with Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili and Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili. According to the U.S. embassy in Tbilisi Mueller met with Georgian “counterparts to discuss cooperation.”

“Bilateral cooperation was discussed; talks were very fruitful,” Shota Utiashvili, head of information and analytical department of the Interior Ministry, said.

No other details of the visit were reported.

“They [the U.S.] are well aware that occupied territories represent black holes of crime and illicit arms and drug trafficking, as well as of elements of nuclear materials as it has been confirmed for multiple times. This is a problematic region in terms of North Caucasus and occupied territories and it is obvious that the United States has special interest,” Temur Iakobashvili, the Georgian state minister for reintegration, told Rustavi 2 TV on May 7th.
