France wants to promote economic ties with Turkey

France said it wanted to promote economic ties with Turkey with Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan's upcoming visit.
French Foreign Ministry said in a press release Friday that new cooperation projects in the areas of transportation, energy and infrastructure would be discussed during Erdogan's visit on April 6 and 7.

France which wants to promote economic ties with Turkey said it wanted to boost the trade volume between the two countries from 10 billion Euro up to 15 billion Euro by 2012.

The ministry said "Erdogan who would arrive Tuesday in Paris to attend the closing ceremony of the "Season of Turkey" in France would get together with French President Nicholas Sarkozy over a working lunch Wednesday".

It said Erdogan would separately meet with French Premier Francois Fillon, Parliament Speaker Bernard Accoyer and Senate President Gerard Larcher.

The ministry said "Erdogan's visit which aimed at enhancing relations between the two countries, created an opportunity for discussion of topics like Afghanistan, Middle East and Iran".
