The Armenian team will not participate in the World Fencing Championship in Baku from April 2 to 10, the Azerbaijan Fencing Federation reported.
"The participation of 1,565 athletes from 87 countries is planned. Armenia will not participate in the tournament," the federation's Secretary General Ramin Mammadov said.
According to the Head of the federation, the International Fencing Federation's General Assembly will convene April 1 in Baku.
"The federation's Executive Director Nathalie Rodriguez has arrived to Baku and is overseeing the process of preparing for the World Cup. Other federation leaders will also arrive to our capital," Mammadov said.
The championship will open April 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the Heydar Aliyev Sports Complex.
"Adolescents will compete the first three days and youths the following three days," he said.
